Luksika upsets top seed Saisai Zheng in WTA Mumbai Open QF

Patna : World No 103 Luksika Kumkhum, 25, Thailand, stunned top seed and World No 47 Saisai Zheng, 24, China, in a three-set thriller to enter the semi-finals of WTA Mumbai Open on November 2, 2018. Kumkhum beat Zheng 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarter-finals at Cricket Club of India, Mumbai, in a major upset in the tournament.

Both the players won 6 break points each in the match. Both of them also won 4 games each in a row in the match. Saisai served 2 Aces in the match to 1 by Kumkhum. Saisai committed 2 double faults to 3 by Kukkhum.

Kumkhum will play World No 110 Margarita Gasparyan, 24, Russia, in the semi-finals on November 3, 2018. Gasparyan beat World No 194 Danka Kovinic, 23, Montenegro, in a three-set encounter 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 in the quarter-finals on November 2.

World No 73 Dalila Jakupovic, 27, Slovenia, also entered the semi-finals of Mumbai Open beating World No 214 Lu Jiajing, 28, China, 6-2, 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Jakupovic won 3 break points in the match besides winning 3 games in a row.
