Ara : A eight- day long ‘Mission Sahasi’ concluded on October 31, 2018, on the campus of Maharaja College, Ara. At least 2,000 girl students from different colleges and schools participated in it and were imparted training in self- defence.

The Mission Sahasi was organized by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad at Mahanth Mahadevanand Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja College, Saraswati Vidya Mandir, D K Carmel, Sambhawana Residential School and Veer Kuer Singh University from October 8, 2018, to October 30, 2018, with a view to enabling girl students defend themselves from the roadside Romeos and ant- social elements. National referee Taekwondo Jyoti Kumari, Wushu Master Rajesh Thakur, Soumya Anand, Rakesh Kumar, Rahul Raj and others imparted training to girl students in martial arts.

The girls, who were imparted training in martial arts, exhibited their talents at the concluding ceremony of Mission Sahasi. Speaking on the occasion, Poonam, SHO Women’s police station, Shweta Singh, State General Secretary, Bihar BJP Mahila Morcha, and Anamika Kesari, ABVP, said that girls are soft target of ant-social elements everywhere and are not safe anywhere including at their homes and so they must know how to safeguard themselves.

They added that keeping it in mind, the ABVP launched ‘Mission Sahasi’ for the girls who were imparted training in martial arts like Wushu Su, Karate, Taekwondo and hoped that after being trained in the martial arts, they would be able to defend themselves.
