2nd ODI between India & West Indies ends in tie

Patna : The 2nd ODI between India beat West Indies that went to wire ended in a tie at Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, though Shai Diego Hope, 24, remained unbeaten on 123 with 10 fours and 3 sixes and Shimron Hetmyer made 94 in 64 ball with 4 fours and 7 sixes in an explosive display of batting. It was Shai Hope’s second ODI century. Chandrapaul Hemraj made 32 with 6 fours while Kieran Powell made 18. Captain Jason Holder was run out for 12.

Kuldeep Yadav took 3/67 in 10 overs while Yuzvendra Chahal took 1/63 in 10 overs. Umesh Yadav took 1/78 while Mohammad Shami took 1/59. Ravindra Jadeja went wicketless conceding 49 runs in his 10 overs.

Chasing a target of 322 runs, West Indies were required to score 14 in the 50th over but ended up scoring 13 only ending the match in a tie. West Indies scored 321/7 in 50 overs. India could have won the match had they not given 4 leg bye on the second ball of the last over. India lead the 5-match ODI series 1-0.

Opting to bat after winning the toss, India made 321/6 in 50 overs with captain Virat Kohli scoring an unbeaten 157 with 13 fours and 4 sixes and Ambati Rayudu 73 with 8 fours. It was Kohli’s 37th ODI century. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan were out for 4 and 29 respectively. M S Dhoni made 20 while Rishabh Pant scored 17. Ravindra Jadeja made 13.
