Ara : Police on September 30, 2018, busted a gang of arms suppliers, arrested five members of the gang and seized cache of arms and ammunition in Bhojpur district. Later, police sent all the arrested arms suppliers to jail. A named FIR has been lodged with Nawada police station, Ara, in this connection.
The arrested criminals were identified as Abhijeet Kumar alias Hobby, son of Vidyanand Mishra, Akash Kumar, son of Vidyanand Mishra of Peer Baba Mor under Nawada police station, Deepak Singh, son of late Bhagwan Singh of Nathamalpur under Barhara police station, Bikas Kumar, son of late Prem Singh of Sariaya under Krishnagarh police station, and Sagar Tiwari, son of Pawan Tiwari of Housing Colony under Nawada police station.
Police seized one rifle of 30.06 caliber, two 9mm pistols, two 7.65mm pistols, a countrymade pistol, 10 magazines of pistols, three live cartridges of 7.65 mm caliber, 12 live cartridges of 9mm caliber, 10 live cartridges of 30.06 caliber, one live cartridge of 3.15 caliber and Rs 1.40 lakh cash from the possession of the arrested criminals.
Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that he got information that Abijeet Kumar alias Hobby and his brother Akash Kumar, sons of Vidyanand Mishra of Peer Baba Mor near K G Road under Nawada police station, along with their associates were dealing in arms and ammunitions near their house under Nawada police station and a deal was struck on September 29, 2018, evening, and it was decided that the arms and ammunitions would be delivered at Ramana Maidan under Nawada police station on September 30, 2018. He said that the police swung into action and arrested five arms suppliers on September 30.
The SP said that during interrogation, the arms suppliers confessed that they had contact with the criminals of the district and supplied arms and ammunitions to them. He said that Abhijeet, Akash and Deepak procured arms from outside Bhojpur district and supplied them to criminals through Sagar and Bikas. He said that the members of the gang were to sell the arms and ammunitions to the gang of Dhan Ji Yadav on September 30 but police foiled their bid. He said that Abhijeet confessed that he had sold some arms and ammunitions to the criminals earlier and the money and a rifle are kept at his house. Police conducted raid at his house and recovered the rifle and Rs 1.40 lakh in cash.
The SP further said that police had recovered cache of firearms and over 400 live cartridges from Garhani and Azimabad police station areas and had arrested 10 arms suppliers about a month ago and during interrogation they revealed about the gang of arms suppliers. He said that police were on searching for them and succeeded in arresting them.
