Three gang rape accused surrender before Ara court

Ara : Three of the four accused involved in the gang rape of a BSc Part I student and daughter of an ASI posted at Ara and making video of the incident surrendered before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate on September 8, 2018, under mounting police pressure. They were sent to Ara jail under judicial custody. The three accused who were sent to jail are : Golu Singh, Mukul Singh, and Ashish alias LIC.The fourth accused Vishal Kumar had also come to surrender but someone told him that his name did not figure in the FIR after which he fled away from the court.

A named FIR was lodged with Woman Police Station, Ara, in Bhojpur district, against four persons in connection with gang rape and making of video of the incident of a graduate student. Station House Officer, Woman Police Station, Poonam Kumari, said that a police team had conducted raids at different places in Bhojpur district and also at Chhapara in Saran district to arrest the named accused. Under mounting police pressure, three of them surrendered before the court, the SHO said.

The SHO said that the accused lured the girl while she was returning from a coaching centre, intoxicated her and then gangraped her at Chhapra in Saran district when her father was posted there. The accused also made video of the incident and showed the girl when she regained consciousness and threatened her with dire consequences saying that she and her family members would be killed and the video would be made viral on social media if she dared say anything regarding the incident to anyone. After that the accused called the girl several times and gang-raped her, the SHO said. Frightened, the girl did not say anything to her parents or any other family members.

The SHO said that after her father was transferred to Ara, the accused called her and directed to come to Chhapra with money and jewellery. Vishal and Ashish came to Ara and took her to Chhapra with them on July 14, 2018, and gang-raped her again. The accused repeatedly tortured and threatened her of leaking the video on social media if she refused to come to Chhapra on their direction.

Finally, the SHO said, the girl narrated her ordeal to her parents and then a named FIR was lodged against all the four accused. Police would take all the three accused on remand for interrogation, the SHO added.
