Ara : Irate villagers went on rampage and set ablaze six makeshift shops and other shops at Bihia under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district on August 20, 2018, afternoon, after body of a youth Bimlesh Sah alias Chhotu Sao was found on the rail track east of railway crossing at Bihia railway station under Danapur Division of East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur. As the news of death of the youth reached home, sister of the deceased died out of shock. The mob caught a woman, stripped her off her clothes and thrashed her holding her responsible for the death of the youth. They also shooed away police personnel when they tried to pacify the mob.
The mob resorted to brickbatting at the Secunderabad-Danapur Superfast train at Bihia railway station and damaged windowpanes of several bogies of the train. Police had to fire six rounds in the air to disperse the unruly mob. Tension prevails in and around Bihia following the incident. Senior police officials have rushed to the spot but the protest was continuing ill the filling of this report.
ASP (Operations) Nitin Kumar said that body of Bimlesh Sah alias Chhotu Sao, son of Kanesh Kanu of village Damodarpur under Shahpur police station in Bhojpur district, was found on the rail track at Bihia railway station near the red light area on August 20, 2018. Quoting the villagers, the SHO said that Bimlesh Sah was going to Patna on August 20 morning to get himself admitted in the Intermediate but in the afternoon his body was found on the rail track.
Within hours, hundreds of villagers gathered at the Bihia railway station and staged dharna outside the railway station and raised slogans against the district administration and said that someone had murdered the youth and threw the body on the rail track to erase evidence. When the police tried to pacify them, the protesters pelted them with stones and chased them. Police had to flee from the spot to save themselves.
Police also fired 6 rounds in the air to disperse the unruly mob but in vain. But, the mob became more aggressive and entered three adjoining houses in the red light area and ransacked them. They also set ablaze about half a dozen makeshift shops and other shops in the area. The mob caught a woman alleging she had killed the youth. They pulled off her clothes on the road in full public view and thrashed her. She was crying for help saying she was innocent and had nothing to do with the murder of the youth but no one came to her rescue.
The SHO said that as the news of murder of Bimlesh Sah reached his house, his sister Shobha Kumari fell on the ground and died immediately.
