Sindhu reaches BWF World Championship final, to play Marine in final

Patna : World No 3 in Badminton World Federation rankings P V Sindhu, 23, India, and World No 8 Carolina Marine, 25, Spain, will clash in the final of BWF federation World Championship at Nanjing, China, on August 5, 2018.

Sindhu defeated World No 2 Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, 21-16, 24-22 in 55 minute in the semi-finals on August 4. She has reached World Championship final for the second consecutive year. She had earlier won a Silver and 2 Bronze medals at the BWF World Championship.

Reigning Olympic champion and twice World Champion Carolina Marine beat World No 7 HE Bingjiao in a three-game thriller 13-21, 21-16, 21-13 in 69 minute.

In the men’s section, World No 7 Kento Momota, Japan, will play World No 3 Shi Yuqi, China, in the final. Momota beat Daren Liew, Malasia, 21-16, 21-5 in the semi-finals in 38 minute while Shi Yuqi beat World No 8 Chen Long, China, 21-11, 21-17 in 44 minute in the semi-finals.
