Jilted lover shots at Mother-Daughter duo in Patna

Patna: A jilted lover shot at and injured a girl and her mother after entering their house in Daudbigha locality under Agamkuan police station, Patna, on July 20, 2018, morning. Both of them have been admitted to a private nursing home in Rajendra Nagar locality.

The mother has been identified as Anita Devi while her daughter’s name is Riya. The youth, who opened fire at them, has been identified as Sanjeev, a resident of Kurji locality, Patna.

On getting information, local police reached the spot and started investigation. Policemen recovered four empty cartridges from the spot. Police said that Sanjeev had come with his friend who was waiting outside the house. Sanjeev and his friend had reached Anita Devi’s house on a bike at 6.20 am when mother-daugher duo was present on the first floor of the house.

Police said that Sanjeev went inside the house and had heated argument over his proposal to marry Riya. The argument continued for about an hour and after that Sanjeev took out his pistol and fired four shots. After that, Sanjeev along with his friend walked away from there leaving behind their bike on the spot. Police recorded mother and daughter’s statement.

According to City SP (East) Rejendra Kumar Bheel, Sanjeev knew Riya for past 6-7 months and often visited her house. He said that Sanjeev was eager to marry Riya. Riya has an elder sister and the family members were planning to get her married and only after that Riya’s marriage would be solemnised, he said adding that this enraged Sanjeev. City SP (east) said that raids were on to arrest Sanjeev and his friend.
