Patna : India beat England by 7 wickets in the third T20I County Ground Bristol, UK, on July 8, 2018, night, riding on a superb unbeaten century by opener Rohit Sharma, his third in the format, and brilliant bowling by allrounder Hardik Pandya. India won the three-match T20I series 2-1. England made 198/9 in 20 overs. India made 201/3 in 18.4 overs.
India won the toss but opted to bowl. England scored 198/9 riding a 31 ball 67 with 4 fours and 7 sixes by opener Jason Roy and 34 in 21 ball with 7 fours by his opening partner and wicketkeeper Jos Buttler. Alex Hales made 30 with 3 fours and 2 sixes while Jonny Bairstow made 25 with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Eoin Morgan was out for 6 while Ben Stokes made 14.
For India, Hardik Pandya took 4/38 in 4 overs while pacer Siddharth Kaul took 2/35 in 4 overs. Umesh Yadav and Deepak Chahar took wicket each. Chris Jordan was run out for 3.
Replying to England total, India lost the wicket of opener Shikhar Dhawan when he score was 21. Dhawan out to David Willey for 5. India lost the wicket of Lokesh Rahul when the score was 62. Rahul made 19 in 10 ball with 1 four and 2 sixes. Rohit Sharma and captain Virat Kohli were then involved in a 89 run partnership for third wicket. Kohli fell to Chris Jordan after scoring 43 in 29 ball with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Sharma was then involved in an unbroken 50 run partnership with Hardik Pandya.
Sharma remained unbeaten on 100 in 56 ball with 11 fours and 5 sixes. Pandya remained not out on 33 in 14 ball with 4 fours and 2 sixes. It was Sharma’s 3rd T20I century, only the second batsmen ever to achieve the feat. Conlin Munro, New Zealand, is the other batsman to score three T20I centuries. Sharma was declared Man of the Match.
