Patna : World No 1 in WTA rankings Simona Halep, 26, Romania, entered the third round Wimbledon tennis championship 2018 on July 5 defeating World No 31 Shuai Zheng, 29, China, in the second round. Halep beat Zheng 7-5, 6-0 on Court 1. Halep won 6 break points to 2 by Zheng. Halep’s winning percentage on both her first and second serve was also quite good.
World No 14 Daria Kasatkina, Russia, 21, also entered the 3rd round defeating World No 53 Yulia Putintseva, 23, Russia, 6-2, 6-3 in the second round. Kasatkina won 6 break points to 2 by Putintseva.
World No 10 Angelique Kerber, 30, Germany, also entered 3rd defeating World No 237 Claire Liu, USA, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the 2nd round.
Former French Open Champion and World No 12 Jelena Ostapenko, 21, Latvia, also entered third round defeating Kirsten Flipkens, Belgium, 6-1, 6-3 in the second round.
