Patna : Defending champion Germany defeated Sweden 2-1 in a Group F match of FIFA World Cup at Fisht Stadium, Russia, late June 23, 2018, night. Germany came from behind to win the match. They were trailing 0-1 at half-time.

Midfielder Marco Reus scored the first goal for Germany in the 48th minute in the second half while midfielder Toni Croos scored the second in 95the minutes on apass from Reus.  Striker Ola Toivonen scored the loan goal for Sweden in the 32nd minute.

Germany had won the World Cup 4 times in 1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014 and were also runners-up four times.. They are making their 19th appearance in the World Cup. Sweden are making their 12th appearance at the World Cup and were runners-up in 1958.
