Family members, relatives of slain youth stage gherao of Ara Town PS

Ara : Family members and relatives staged gherao of Ara Town Police Station (PS) and also staged demonstration in front of it on June 20, 2018, after the SHO, Town Police Station, refused to lodge an FIR regarding murder of a youth Anup Kumar.

Four students had gone to Mau in UP to take police constable entrance examination on June 17, 2018. Three of them returned but Anup Kumar, 22, of M P Bagh under Ara Town police station did not return till June 18 evening. In the meantime, GRP Mau railway station in UP informed that Anup Kumar was found on railway track under unconscious stage. The GRP took him to the hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The family member rushed to Mau and returned to Ara with the body on June 20.

On June 19 evening, Anup Kumar’s family members had caught all his three friends and handed them over to Town police station. When his family members went to Ara Town police station on June 20 to lodge an FIR regarding Anup’s death, police refused to lodge an FIR and also released all the three youth instead. At this, Anup’s family members got agitated and staged gherao of the police station.

SHO, Town police station, said that the matter concerned the GRP, Mau, in UP and the three youth were found innocent during interrogation and so they were released.
