Patna : Japan, who are making their 6th apperance in the FIFA World Cup, upset Colombia 2-1 in a Group H match of the tourament at Mordovia Arena, Russia, on June 19, 2018. Mordovia Arena is located on eastern edge of small city of Saransk. It is also known as Saransk Stadium. The Stadium has a capacity to accomodate 45,000 spectators.

For Japan, Midfielder Shinji Kagawa scored the first goal in the 6th minute through penalty while striker Yuya Osako scored the second goal in the 73rd minute through a header on a shot from corner. Midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero scored the loan goal for Colombia in the 39th minute through a free kick.

Colombia, who are making their 6th apperance in the World Cup, had reached the quarter-finals in 2014.  Colombia midfielder Carlos Sanchez Moreno was shown Red Card during the match bringing his team down to 10 men.
