World No 24 in ATP rankings Kyrgios beat World No 50 Maximilian Marterer, 22, Germany, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in Round of 16 while World No 33 Feliciano Lopez beat World No 55 Gilles Simon, 33, France, 7-6, 6-4.
But, World No 169 Prajnesh Gunneshwaran, 28, India, who had upset World No 23 Denis Shapovalov, 19, Canada, in the first round, lost to World No 75 Guido Pella, 28, Argentina, in straight sets 6-7, 3-6 in Round of 16. Gunneswaran had entered the main draw of the tournament through qualifiers.
