Patna : West Indies (WI) crushed Sri Lanka (SL) by a massive 226 runs in the first cricket test at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, on June 10, 2018, with batting all rounder Roston Lamar Chase, 26, Barbados, taking 4/15 in 8.2 overs with his off spinners in SL’s second innings. Another West Indian spinner Devendra Bishoo too 3/48.

SL were all out for 226 in their second innings with opener Kusal Mendis scoring 102 in 210 ball with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Dinesh Chandimal ,who had retired hurt on 15 on the fourth day, returned to bat on June 10 but was out for 27 to Roston Chase. Former Captain Angelo Mathews made 31.

Sri Lanka lost their fourth wicket in the second innings when the score was 189. But, no batsmen stayed on the crease for long after that as the fifth wicket fell on 195 and the 6th at 218 when Chandimal was out.

Sri Lanka had scored 185 in their first innings. West Indies had declared their first innings at 414/8 taking alead of 229 runs while they declared their second innings at 223/7. West Indies wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich had scored an unbeaten 125 in the first innings while Kieren Powell made 88 in the second innings.
