Patna : Bihar Government on June 1, 2018, upgraded the post of Principal Secretary, Environment and Forest Department, to the rank of Chief Secretary (CS) till Tripurari Sharan, a 1985 batch Bihar cadre IAS officer, holds the post.

The order will be effective from the date Sharan assumes charge of the post. The General Administration Department issued a notification to this effect on June 1. Sharan was appointed Principal Secretary, Environment and Forest Department, on May 29, 2o18.

Three 1985 batch IAS officers : Shashi Shekhar Sharma, Development Commissioner, and Arun Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Water Resources Department, and Tripari Sharan, were already in the rank of Chief Secretary.
