Governor asks VCs to expedite development of higher education

Patna : Bihar Governor cum Chancellor of State Universities Satya Pal Malik on May 29, 2018, asked the Vice-Chancellors (VCs) to expedite the implementation of agenda for the development of higher education in the state. Addressing the monthly meeting of the VCs at Raj Bhawan, the Governor asked them to find solutions to problems, if any, instead of giving excuses.

Presiding over the meeting, the Governor asked the VCs to strictly implement academic and exam calendars as well as attendance of teachers and students. He also asked the VCs to ensure timely payments of retiral benefits to teachers and non-teaching employees besides taking steps for timely payment of salary to serving teachers and non-teaching employees.

Principal Secretary, Education Department, R K Mahajan, said that a separate meeting of Registrars will be convened by the department to discuss the issue of Affiliation of colleges. Principal Secretary to Governor Vivek Kumar Singh said that henceforth micro level reports submitted by different varsities would also be reviewed at the monthly meetings of the VCs. The Syllabus for the Choice based Credit System would be released in June 2018.

All the universities and colleges were asked to install Bio-metric system and CCTV cameras at the earliest. The meeting stressed on regular inspection of BEd colleges. The universities were also directed to utlise Government e-Marketplace ( GeM) portal for official purchase.
