Patna : The State Government on May 29, 2018, appointed Development Commissioner Deepak Kumar as the Chief Secretary of Bihar with effect from May 31, 2018, afternoon. The General Administration Department (GAD) issued a notification to this effect on May 29. Deepak Kumar is a 1984 batch ihar cadre IAS officer and an IIT Delhi product. He will retire on February 29, 2020.

Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, a 1981 batch IAS officer, will retire on May 31. He was to retire on February 28 but was given three months’ extension.

Shashi Shekhar Sharma, a 1985 batch IAS officer and Director General (DG) of Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD), has been appointed the new Development Commissioner of Bihar with effect from May 31. Sharma will continue to be in additional charge of DG, BIPARD. Sharma will retire on August 31, 2018.

Atul Prasad ( 1987), Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department, has been given additional charge of Principal Secretary, Co-operative Department. Vinay Kumar ( 1999), Secretary, Rural Works Department, has been given additional charge of Secretary to Chief Minister, CM Secretariat. Safina A N ( 1997), Commissioner, Kosi Division, Saharsa, has been given additional charge of Commissioner, Purnia Division.
