Patna : England were all out for just 184 in 58.2 overs against Pakistan in the first test at Lord’s, London, on May 24, 2018, due hostile spell of fast bowling by Mohammad Abbas, 28, and Hasan Ali, 24. Both Abbas and Hasan Ali took 4 wickets each. Abbas took 4/23 in 14 overs while Ali took 4/51 in 15.2 overs. Another fast bowler Mohammad Ameer took 1/41 in 14 overs. Allrounder Faheem Ashraf, 24, a pace bowler, also took one wicket. In reply,Pakistan were 10/0 after 4 overs.

England won the toss and opted to bat. England opener Alastair Cook scored 70 in 148 ball hitting 14 fours while all rounder Ben Stokes made 38 in 64 ball hitting 5 fours and a six.  Wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow made 27 hitting 4 fours. England Captain Joe Root was out for 4 while Jos Buttler made 14. Dawid Malan made 6 while opener Mark Stoneman made 4.
