Ara : Hundreds of residents of Ara blocked the Jail road area under Ara Town police station in Bhojpur district on May 23, 2018, paralysing the movement of vehicles for about two hours in protest against erratic power supply and failure of the officials of the South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL) to change the damaged transformer for the last one month despite several request.

They burnt tyres on road and raised slogans against the district administration and  local MP cum Union Energy Minister Raj Kumar Singh. Bhojpur police tried to pacify the protesters but they did not budge an inch and demanded presence of Bhojpur District Magistrate on the spot.

A local resident Basant Kumar Yadav said that the Chief Minister had assured 24×7 hours power supply to all the district headquarters and even Union Minister Raj Kumar Singh had directed the officials of the SBPDCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply but to no avail so far.
