CSK beat KXIP by 5 wickets in Pune IPL

Patna : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 5 wickets in the 56th match of IPL 2018, the last match in the league stage, at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on May 20, 2018, night, riding on a brilliant knowk of 61 in 48 ball with 4 fours and 2 sixes by Suresh Raina and Deepak Chahar’s 39 in 20 ball with 1 four and 3 sixes.  CSK had won the toss but opted to bowl.

KXIP were all out for 153 in 19.4 overs with Karun Nair scoring 54 in 26 ball hitting 3 fours and 5 sixes and Manoj Tiwary scoring 35 in 30 ball with 3 fours and a six. For CSK, Lungisani Ngidi took 4/10 in 4 overs including amaiden over.

In reply, CSK made 159/5 in 19.1 overs. Captain M S Dhoni remained unbeaten on 16 in 7 ball hitting a six and a four. Harbhajan Singh scored 19 hitting 2 fours and a six. Opener Ambati Rayudu was out for 1 while his partner Faf du Plessis, South Africa, made 14.

With this win, CSK have 18 points from 14 matches. SRH also have 18 points from 14 matches but they top the points table due to better net run rate. KKR and RR have 14 points each.
