Halep enters 3rd round of Italian Open, Sakkari upsets Pliskova

Patna : World N0 1 in WTA rankings Simona Halep, 26, Romania, entered the 3rd round of Italian Open defeating World N0 21 Naomi Osaka, 20, Japan, at Foro Italico, Rome, on May 16, 2018. Halep defeated Naomi Osaka 6-1, 6-0, in the second round.

But, World N0 2 Maria Sakkari, 22, Greece, stunned World N0 5 Karolina Pliskova, 26, Czech Republic, the 6th seed, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, in the second round.

World N0 13 Daria Kasatkina, 21, Russia,  beat Danielle Collins, 24, USA,  6-2, 6-3 to enter the third round. World N0 10 Sloane Stephens, 25, USA, World N0 7 Caroline Garcia, France, and World N0 14 Madison Keys, 23, USA, also entered the 3rd round of Italian Open.
