Villagers attack cops at Bhojpur village, free murder accused

Ara : A police team, which had gone to village Bhakura under Ara Muffassil police station in Bhojpur district to arrest a murder case accused Babloo Singh, was attacked by the villagers injuring some cops on May 1, 2018, night. The villagers freed Babloo Singh from police custody. he injured police personnel were admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital.

Station House Officer (SHO), Ara Muffassil police station, said former Deputy Mayor, Dhanbad (Jharkhand), Neeraj Singh, was shot dead last year and Babloo Singh of village Berath in Bhojpur district was one of the main accused in his murder.

The SHO said that he got information that Babloo Singh had come to Bhakura village to attend a marriage ceremony after which he immediately rushed to the village with force and arrested Babloo Singh. At this, the villagers started pelting cops with stones and chased them away. He said that three police personnel were injured in stone pelting and the villagers freed Babloo Singh from police custody. The SHO had allegedly gone there with six old Homeguards jawans to arrest Babloo.
