Patna : Former Speaker, Bihar legislative assembly, and senior JD(U) leader Uaday Narain Chaudhary, resigned from the party on May 2, 2018, charging Nitish Kumar led NDA Government with being anti-dalit.

A dissident, Chauhary had been critical of Nitish government for the last several months and may join the RJD. He was a Minister in the RJD Government in the past. He had recently participated at a function of National Forum at Patna where former Union Minister and veteran BJP leader Yashwant Sinha announced his retirement from politics.

Chaudhay was the Speaker of Bihar Assembly for 10 years but lost to HAM (S) founder and former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi from Imamganj constituency in Gaya district in 2015 State Assembly polls. Chaudhary was never a towering dalit leader.
