Patna : Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Mumbai Indias (MI) by 14 runs in the 31stmatch of IPL this season at M ChinnaswamyStadium, Bengalure, on May 1, 2018, night, though Pandya brothers : Hardik and Krunal, made a valiant effort to win the match. Hardik Pandya, who had taken 3/28 in 3 overs during RCB innings, made 50 in 42 balls with 5 fours and a six, while Krunal Panday made 23 in 19 balls with a four and a six. J P Duminy was run out for 23.

MI captain Rohit Sharma andopener Ishan Kishan were out without scoring in a major setback to the team. Kieron Pollard was also out for 13. KI’s most consistent batsman and opener Suryakumar Yadav was also out for 9 only.

RCB fast bowlers Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, and Mohd Siraj bowled a tight line and length and took two wickets each.  

MI had won the toss but opted to bowl. RCB had scored 167/7 in 20 overs with opener Manan Vohra scoring 45, Brendon McCullum 37, and captain Virat Kohli 32. MI could score only 153/7 in 20 overs. It was a very important match for both the teams.

RCB now has 6 points from 8 matches while MI has just 4 points having lost six of their 8 matches. MI has now 14-9 head to head record against RCB in IPL matches.
