Ara : Elaborate arrangements have been made for the 160th Victory Day ( Vijayotsav)  celebrations at village Dulaur village, about 1 km away from Jagdishpur, the birth place of Veer Babu Kuer Singh, hero of the First War of Independence, 1857. This year the Victory Day will be celebrated from April 23 to April 25, 2018. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will  inaugurate the function on April 23. Bhojpur district administration made foolproof security arrangements for the purpose.

Block Development Officer (BDO), Jagdishpur,  Prabhakar Kumar, said that dais, pandal, Swiss Cottages, gates, triumphal archs, and plyaground have been made at the Veer Kuer Singh Village set up for the ocasion at Dulaur in an area spread over 25 acre. Around 200 artists and mason of Royla Pushkar Company, Ajmer, established Veer Kuer Singh Village in 25 days.

A 70 feet long and 40 feet wide main stage has been constructed from where CM  Nitish Kumar will address the people. A 350 feet long and 140 feet wide fireproof and waterproof pandal has also been erected to accomodate about 10,000 people. The 24 Swiss cottages are  equipped with air-condition and other facilities. The BDO said that artists from Varanasi attired in ‘sepoys’ and Kuer Singh uniforms will take out a ‘Shobha Yatra from Shivpurghat and reach Jagdishpur Fort covering 30 km distance on April 23, 2018. Bihar Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Department Minister Krishna Kumar will flag off the ‘Shobha Yatra’ and CM Nitish Kumar will receive it at Jagdishpur Fort.

Shivpurghat is located on the border of Bihar and UP where Babu Kuer Singh had chopped off his hand and given it to river Ganga. The BDO said that roads leading to Jagdishpur have been widened, electric wires changed, and streetlights have been installed on every electric pole. High mast light has been installed while grand gates have been made on either side of Jagdishpur Fort and the entire area has been beautified.

The BDO said that debate, painting, drawing, kabaddi, horse riding, horse show, javelin throw, wrestling competitions have been organized to mark the occasion. Noted singer  Malini Awashti and Bhojpuri singer Bharat Singh will be the attraction at the cultural programme.

Over 2,000 police personnel and magistrates have also been deployed for security and to maintain law and order during the celebration and hand-held metal detectors, doorframe metal detectors and sniffer dogs have been deployed. Bhojpur SP Awkash Kumar is himself monitoring the security arrangements. The SP said stern action would be taken against mischief mongers and anti-social and elements.
