KXIP score 155 against RCB in 8th IPL match, RCB 19/1

Patna : The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) scored a modest 155 in 19.2 overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 8th match of IPL 2018 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on April 13, 2018, with opener Lokesh Rahul scoring 47 in 30 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours. KXIP captain and allrounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who has scored four centuries in tests, made 33 in 21 balls with 3 fours and a six. Opener Mayank Agarwal made 15.

Asked to bat first by RCB who won the toos, the KXIP started well and 32 without loss but lost three wickets in the fourth over bowled by pacer Umesh Yadav. Yadav accounted for opener Mayank Agarwal, Aaron Finch and Yuvraj Singh in his second over. KXIP were 36/3 after 4 overs. Rahul and Karun Nair were then involved in a 58 run partnership for the 4th wicket. Rahul fell to spinner Washington Sundar when the score was 94. Nair fell to pacer Kulwant Khejrolia after scoring 29 in 26 balls with 3 fours when the score was 102. Interestingly, Rahul, Nair and Mayank Agarwal play for Karnataka in domestic cricket.

For RCB, pacers Umesh Yadav took 3/23, Kulwant Khejrolia 2/33, and Chris Woaskes 2/36. Washington Sundar 2/22 while Yuzvendra Chahal 1/38.

Replying to the KXIP total, RBC lost the wicket opener Brandon McCullam in the first over itself . McCullum fell to spinner Axal Patel without scoring. RCB were 19/1 in 2 overs with  captain Virat Kohli batting on 10 and opener Quinton de Kock batting on five.
