Ara : At least two newborn children died at Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) on the campus of Ara Sadar Hospital on April 13, 2018. But, the family members said that five children had died at the hospital on April 13. They went on rampage and damaged hospital properties after the death of two newborns. They also staged demonstration in front of the office of the Civil Surgeon, Ara,  Dr Ras Bihari Singh, alleging that lack of oxygen and proper treatment had caused the death of two newborns.

The employees of the hospital and those at the SNCU escaped from the scene while the family members of other children undergoing treatment at the SNCU took them away  somewhere else.

Deputy Superintendent (DS),  Ara Sadar Hospital, Dr Satish Kumar Sinha, refuted all the charges and said that only two children had died . He said that only critical cases are brought here and added two critically ill newborn children were brought over to the hospital on April 13 and the doctors had referred them to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) but the family members did not pay any heed to their advice.
