Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scored 202/6 in 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 5th match of the IPL 2018 at M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 10 courtsey an explosive batting display by West Indian Andre Russel, who made an unbeaten 88 in 36 balls hitting 11 sixes and a four. Russel’s strike rate was 244.44.

Russel hit three consecutive sixes in the 19th over bowled by Dwayne Bravo. He had also hit Bravo for two sixes in 17th over. In fact, Russel hit Bravo for 6 sixes in his three overs. Bravo conceded 50 runs in his three overs without getting a wicket. He also hit pacer CSK pacer Shardul Thakur for two consecutive sixes in 16th over. He again hit Thakur for two sixes in the 20th over.

KKR captain and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik made 26 in 25 balls hitting 2 fours and a six while Robin Uthappa made 29 in 16 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Opener Chris Lynn made 22 in 16 balls hitting 4 fours while his partner Sunil Narine scored 12 in 4 balls with two sixes. Nitish Rana was out for 16 in 14 balls with 2 fours. The fifth KKR fell when the score was 89. Russel and Karthik were then involved in 76 run partnersip for the sixth wicket.

For CSP, Shane Watson took 2/39 in 4 overs while Thakur took 1/37 in 4 overs. Ravindra Jadeza took 1/19 in 2 overs while Harbhajan Singh took 1/11 in 2 overs. Imran Tahir gave away 26 runs in his 4 overs.

CSK were 30/0 after two overs with opener Shane atson scorin 28 of them in 11 balls with two sixes and equal number of fours.
