Sitamarhi : Police recovered bodies of an elderly couple from their house near hospital road area at Sitamarhi on April 9, 2018. The recovery of the two bodies created sensation among the people. Bharat Prasad,  75, and his wife Mandvi Devi, 70, were allegedly strangulated to death at their house while their guard Mukesh Kumar was found unconscious when police reached there.

The maidservant saw the house in a state of utter disorder on April 9 morning after which the ocals called police. The miscreants while retreating looted the car of Bharat Prasad that was found abandoned condition on NH 77 under Bathanaha police station in Sitamarhi district. The guard has been admitted into Sadar hospital, Sitamarhi, where he is slowly gaining consciousness. The affluent Bharat prasad, as per locals, had several protracted land disputes. A dog squad has been pressed into service and FSL team from Patna has been summoned.
According to Sadar SDPO, Sitamarhi,  K V Dhirendra, investigation is underway and police are waiting for guard’s statement. The culprits would be arrested soon,he said.
It may be recalled here that Prof Anita Jaiswal, daughter- in- law of the family, was shot dead by unidentified criminals in August 2017 at her house when she was preparing breakfast in the kitchen in the morning. Bharat Prasad’s brother is a doctor settled in Australia.
