Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) by 4 wickets at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, in the third match of the IPL 2018 on April 8, 2018, night, with West Indies player Sunil Narine, essentially a spinner, making 50 in 19 balls with 4 four and 5 sixes.

KKR captain and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 35 in 29 balls with 4 fours. Nitish Rana scored 34 in 25 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes while Andre Russel made 15 in 11 balls hitting 2 fours and a six. KKR attained the target of 177 in 18.5 overs. for the loss of 6 wickets.

For RCB, fast England bowler Chris Woakes took 3/36 in 4 overs while Umesh Yadav took 2/27 in 4 overs. Spinner Washington Sundar took 1/48 in 4 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal did not get any wicket but gave away 29 runs in three overs.

Earlier, asked to bat first by KKR who won the toss, RCB made 176/7 in 20 overs with A B de Villers making 44 in 23 balls with 1 four and 5 sixes and New Zealander Brandon Mc Cullum making 43 in 27 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. RCB captain Virat Kohli made 31 in 33 balls with 1 four a six while Mayank Singh made 37 in 18 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

For KKR, Nitish Rana took 2/11 in one over. He took the wickets of de Villiers and Virat Kohli. Vinay Kumar took 2/30 in 2 overs. Piyush Chawla, Sunil Narine, and Australian Mitchell Johnson took one wicket each.
