Patna : Bihar CM Nitish Kumar while addressing a function organized here to mark the  second anniversary of prohibition in the state on April 5, 2018, lashed out at the opposition parties including the RJD for criticising prohibition policy. Nitish termed the opposition parties’ stance as anti-poor as the economically deprived sections of the society suffered the most due to  liquor consumption.

The Chief Minister said there are people who are angry with him because of obvious reasons and they are welcome to do so. “But do not oppose prohibition just because you want to oppose me,” Nitish said.

Nitish, in an apparent reference to recent communal tension in Bhagalpur, Aurangabad, Samastipur, Nawada and his home district Nalanda, made it clear that the rule of law will be upheld under his watch though there are elements in every society who keep looking for an opportunity to create tension. There will always be some people who indulge in mischief but the government will ensure that the rule of law is upheld, the CM said.
Nitish also released the CD of an anti-liquor music album “Tauba Tauba Sharab” made by a journalist Nitish Chandra, which features Bhojpuri stars Ravi Kishan and Manoj Tiwari, besides some senior bureaucrats from the state. The function was attended by Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi and minister in-charge, Prohibition and Excise, Vijendra Prasad Yadav.
