Patna : World Number 4 Grigor Dimitrov, 26, Bulgaria, and World Number 6 Juan Martin del Porto, 29, Argentina, marched into the third round of Miami Open ATP Masters 1000 tournament on March 23, 2018, night, but six time champion and World Numbr 12 Novak Djokovic, 30, Serbia, was stunned by World Number 47 Benoit Paire, 28, France, in his opening match at the event. Djokovic had also lost in his opening round match at Indian Wells Open Masters 1000 recently.
Dimitrov, the third seed in the tournament, defeated World Number 73 Maximilian Marterer, 22, Germany, in three sets 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, while del Porto, the 5th seed, defeated World Number 44 Robin Hass, 30, Netherland, in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, in their respective second round matches at Crandon Park Tennis Centre, Key Biscayne, Florida, USA. But, in a big upset, Paire defeated former World Number 1 Djokovic in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
World Number 17 and 14th seed John Isner, 32, USA, defeated World Number 64, Jiri Vesely, 24, Czech Republic, 7-6, 1-6, 6-3, to enter the third round. World Number 23 and 19th seed Hyeon Chung, 21, South Korea, defeated World Number 76 Mathew Ebden, 30, Australia, 6-3, 7-5, to enter the third round. World Number 49 Jared Donaldson, 21, USA, defeated 25th seed and World Number 32 Feliciano Lopez, 36, Spain, 6-4, 6-2.
