Woman held for killing 4 yr old son, attempt to kill 2 yr old son

Ara : Bhojpur police arrested Jyoti Devi, 28, wife of Kunal Singh, on March 18, 2018, and sent her to jail for allegedly killing her four year old son Rudra Kumar and her attempt to kill herself and her two year old younger son Arpit Kumar at village Sinha under Sinha Police Outpost on February 22, 2018. She was undergoing treatment at ra Sadar Hospital since.

Jyoti’s father-in-law Bindeshwari Singh had lodged a named FIR with Sinha Police Outpost against her and two unidentified persons for killing his grandson Rudra Kumar.

SHO, Sinha Police Outpost, said that Jyoti Devi, daughter of Bharat Singh of village Rampur under Ara Muffassil police station, was married to Kunal Singh, son of Bindeshwari Singh of village Sinha in 2012. But their relation was strained due to Kunal Singh’s alleged extra- martial affair with a girl which Jyoti used to protest.

On February 22, 2018, Jyoti Devi had a talk with her husband on mobile after which she confined herself into a room with both her sons at her in-laws’ place and slit throats of her sons and as well as  herself, the SHO said. Her elder son Rundra Kumar succumbed to his injuries while she and her 2 year old son Arpit Kumar were admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital.
