Patna : Replying to Australia’s first innings total of 243 all out, South Africa were 39/1 in 12 overs at stumps on day one in the second cricket test at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on March 9, 2018. Opener Dean Elgar was batting on 11 in 37 balls while night watchman Kagiso Rabada was batting on 17 in 14 balls hitting 4 fours. Opener Aiden Markram was out for 11 to Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins.
Earlier electing to bat first after winning the toss, Australia were all out for 243 in 71.3 overs with opener David Warner scoring 63 and his partner Cameron Bancroft 38. Captain Steven Smith scored 25 while wicketkeeper Tim Paine made 34. Shaun Marsh scored 24 runs.
