HLC approves Rs 1,711.66 cr assistance to Bihar

New Delhi : Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) here on February 26, 2018, for Central Assistance to the States of Bihar (affected by floods during 2017-18), Gujarat (affected by floods during 2017-18), Kerala (affected by cyclone Ockhi during 2017), Rajasthan (affected by flood during 2017-18), Tamil Nadu (affected by cyclone Ockhi and North East Monsoon during 2017), Uttar Pradesh (affected by flood during 2017), West Bengal (affected by flood during 2017), Chhattisgarh (affected by kharif drought during 2017) and Madhya Pradesh (affected by kharif drought during 2017) .

The Union Minister for Finance and Corporate  Arun Jaitley, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba and senior officers of the Ministries of Home, Finance and Agriculture and NITI Aayog attended the meeting.

The HLC approved assistance of Rs 1,711.66 crore in respect of state of Bihar. The HLC also approved assistance from NDRF amounting to Rs 1,055.05 crore for the state of Gujarat, Rs 169.63 crore for the state for Kerala, Rs 420.57 crore for the state of Rajasthan, Rs 133.05 crore for the state of Tamil Nadu, Rs 420.69 crore for the state of Uttar Pradesh, Rs 838.85 crore for West Bengal, Rs 395.91 crore for Chhattisgarh and Rs 836.09 crore for the state of Madhya Pradesh, according to a PIB release.
