6 DPS Bokaro students qualify for nationals of VVM programme

Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : Making their alma mater proud and showing exceptional academic  performance in science subjects, 6 students from Delhi Public School Bokaro steel city of the 12 students from Jharkhnd state, have qualified  for the Nationals in the Second Level of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) – a national programme for educating and popularising science. The six DPS Bokaro students are : Ashish Harshvardhan, Abhijeet Kumar, Shigra, Yatharth Sameer, Naman Bhashkar, and Anamika.

These students were selected on the basis of their performances in the four stage process at the State Level Camp conducted at JVM School, Hazaribagh, whose results were declared on February 20, 2018. It included Written Test, Observational Analysis of Video Clips, Situation Problem Solving and Hands on Activities. The Selected students have been awarded cash prizes.

Though eight students from the DPS Bokaro won cash prizes but as per the framed rule  only those securing  first and second rank in their groups qualify to participate  in the nationals while those ranked third only get cash prizes and from DPS two students secured third ranking.

It may be mentioned here that Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is a national programme jointly organized by Vijnana Bharati, NCERT and Vigyan Prasar for educating and popularizing science among the school students of Classes VI to XI. The main objective of the programme is to identify keen knowledge seekers in Science and then nurture them for higher level of science education.

Hemlata S Mohan, Director and Principal of DPS Bokaro, expressed her happiness over the achievement of the students and congratulated them. She also extended her best wishes for the Nationals to be held in Delhi later this year.
