Kuldip Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal new stars of Indian cricket

Patna : Wrist spineer Kuldip Yadav, on his first trip to South Africa as a member of the Indian Cricket team, has taken 16 wickets in the first five matches of the six-match ODI series against South Africa. It is the maximum by any spinner in a series in South Africa surpassing Sri Lankan great Mutthiah Murlitharan who had taken 14 wickets in a a tri-series in 1998.

Kuldip’s partner Yuzvendra Chahal has also taken 14 wickets in the series. The sixth ODI is scheduled for February 16 and the way both are performing there is a strong possibility of their getting more wickets in the 6th ODI. Both the wrist spinners have taken 30 wickets  together in the first five ODIs the last 22 wickets coming in last three matches. India is now leading 4-1 in the 6-match ODI series. They beat South Africa by 73 runs in the 5th ODI.

In fact, India’s South Africa trip will be long remembered for the performance of their bowlers. Even, in the three-match test series, which South Africa won 2-1, the Indian bowlers had taken all the 60 South African wickets with Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami performing brilliantly.
