Ara : Family members of two slain cousin brothers are living under constant fear due to failure of police to arrest the main culprits even after a month. The accused are moving scot free at the village allegedly threatening the family members of the slain cousins.

Some unidentified armed miscreants had shot dead Yogendra Tatwa, son of Shankar Tatawa, a newspaper hawker of village Ramdatahi under Shahpur police station, near Bus Stand under Karnamepur police outpost when he was going to distribute papers on January 17, 2018, morning. A named FIR was lodged in this connection, with Karnamepur police utpost against four persons of village Ramdatahi: Brajesh Rai, Ritesh Rai, Shiv Sagar Rai and Sona Rai, on the statement of Meena Devi, wife of the deceased.

Meena Devi said that the miscreants had also killed Rajendra Tatawa, son of Ram Sakal Prasad of Ramdatahi village and cousin brother of Yognedra Tatawa, four months ago. She said that the miscreants had shot at and injured Rajendra Tatwa on September 7, 2017, in a dispute over a piece of land. Rajendra succumbed to his injuries on November 2, 2017. But the police did not take any action against the accused even as an FIR was lodged against eight persons including Brajesh Rai. She said that her husband was a witness in the case and the miscreants had threatened him with dire consequences if he did not withdraw the case. She said three armed miscreants of the same family from Ramdatahi village shot dead her husband too.

Sarita Devi, wife of Rajendra Tatwa, said that she has five daughters and two sons and she was running from pillar to post after the murder her husband for justice.

She alleged that SI Shambhu Singh of Karnamepur police outpost was the Investigating Officer (IO) in the murder case of her husband but he showed no interest in investigation.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar line closed the SHO Karnamepur police outpost Dhananjay Singh and SI, Ara Town Police Station, Ravindra Singh, was made the SHO, Karnamepur police outpost. Former SI, Karnamepur police outpost, Shambhu Singh, was also suspended for dereliction of duty.

Meanwhile, Vishal Kumar, son of deceased Yogendra Tatwa, talked to  Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar and demanded arrest of the main accused as they were living under constant fear.

A dispute over five katthaa of ‘gairmazarua’ land at village Ramdatahi village under Karnamepur police outpost was going on for the last 20 years between the families of Brajesh Rai and Shiv Shankar Prasad.

Tarari MLA Sudama Prasad said that  police were hand in glove with the influential persons of the area and so never bothered to take any action against them.

SHO, Karnamepur police outpost, Ravindra Singh, said that a team of police personnel had been sent to Gazipur in UP to arrest Brajesh Rai but he managed to escape. He said that  police were looking for Brajesh Rai and Ritesh Rai and hoped they would be arrested very soon.
