Patna : Australia beat England by 7 wickets in the third match of the six-match T20I tri-series at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne, Australia, on February 10, 2018. With this, Australia won all the three T20I played in Australia. Australia had defeated New Zealand in the first T20I and England in the next two. The remaining three T20I mathes will be played in New Zealand.

Australia win the toss but elected to field first. England made 137/7 in 20 overs with stand in captain and wicketkeeper Jos Buttler scoring 46 in 49 balls hitting 3 fours and Sam Billings made 29 in 23 balls hitting 4 fours and a six. J Vince made 21 in 21 balls hitting 2 fours. Openers Alex Hales and Jason Roy made 3 and 8 respectively while Dawid Malan was run out for 10 runs. For Australia, Kane Richardson took 3/33 and Billy Stanlake 2/28. Andrew Tye took 1/29.

Australia attained the target scoring 138/3 in 14.3 overs before over 42,ooo spectators with opener D Short making an unbeaten 36 hitting 3 fours and a six and Glen Maxwell scoring 39 in 26 balls hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Chris Lyn made 31 in 19 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. Stand in skipper David Warner’s poor form continues as he was out after scoring only 2 runs. Aarin Finch remained not out on 20 in 5 balls hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. For England, C Jordan took 2/26 and D Willey 1/30. Australia thus booked their place in the final of the tri-series.

Australian bowler K Richardson was declared Player of the Match.
