Ara: Bhojpur police cracked the mystery behind murder of an old woman at village Farhada under Sinha police outpost on May 15, 2016, and arrested her daughter-in-law Kalawati Devi, wife of Gopal Singh, and grandson Suraj Kumar, son of Gopal Singh, in this connection on Friday evening.
SHO, Sinha police outpost, Dhananjay Kumar Pandey said that police had recovered body of an unidentified woman from outskirt of village Farhada on May 15, 2016, and had lodged an FIR on the statement of the Chowkidar. He said that the woman was later identified as Yashoda Kuer, wife of Janardan Singh of village Porhar under Sinha police outpost.
The SHO said that the deceased had two sons: Gopal Singh and Deepak Singh. Gopal Singh was married to Kalawati Devi of Porha village while Deepak Singh worked at Vadodara. Yashoda Kuer lived with her younger son. In April, she had come to her native village to settle marriage of her younger son and for this she wanted to sell a piece of land in the village but Kalawati Devi started protesting and wanted to capture all the property. She hatched a conspiracy with his brother and son and they persuaded Yashoda to company them to Bakhorapur for negotiation of marriage on May 15, 2016, though both her sons were not aware of the conspiracy. On way to Bakhorapur, they beat up and killed Yashoda Devi near Farhada village and to erase evidence they threw the body on the outskirt of the village.
The SHO said that the daughter of the deceased Savita Devi, wife of Dev Kumar, who lived in Vadodara in Gujarat tried to talk to her mother on mobile but every time Kalawati Devi declined on some pretext which raised suspicion. Police got the clue and succeeded in solving the murder mystery.
