Patna : Chasing a vicory target of 217 runs, India were 55  for no loss in 10 overs against Australia in the  ICC Under-19 World Cup final at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, on February 3, 2018. Captain Pritvi Shaw was batting on 29 in 39 balls hitting 4 fours while his opening partner Manjot Kalra was batting on 19 in 22 balls including a six and a four. Both India and Australia are three times ICC U-19 World Cup Champions.

Earlier, in a brilliant display of fast bowling Indian bowlers restricted Australia to 216 in 47.2 overs with all rounder Jonathan Merlo, 19, scoring 76 in 102 balls hitting 6 fours. Australia had won the toss and elected to bat first.

Captain Jason Sangha was out for 13 to fast bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti who also took the wicket of Zak Evans for 1. His fast bowling partner Shivam Mavi took the wicket of Ryan Hadley for 1. Right arm medium fast bowler Ishan Porel, 19, took 2/30 Spinner Shiva Singh, 18, from UP,  took 2/36. Spinner Anukul Roy also took 2/32. Wicketkeeper Baxter J Holt was run out for 13. Porel took the wickets of both the openers Jack Edwards and Max Bryant.

Apart from Jonathan Merlo, opener Jack Edwards made 28 in 29 balls while Param Uppal scored 34 in 58 balls. Nathan McSweeney made 23 in 29 balls.
