Federer demolishes Berdych to enter semi-finals of AO 2018

Patna : World Number 2 Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland, comfortably sailed into the semi- finals of Australian Open (AO) 2018 defeating 19th seed Tomas Berdych, 32, Czech Republic, in straight sets 7-6, 6-3, 6-4, in the quarterfinals on January 24, 2018.

Federer has moved into the semi-finals of the AO without dropping a set for the fourth time in his career. Federer was 2-5 down in the first set but thereafter took conrol of the match and demolishd  Berdych in aclinical display of tennis. Federer will unseeded Hyeon Chung, 21, of South Korea in the semi-finals. It will be Federer’s 14th semi-final in the AO. They have never played each other. Chung is first South Korean the semi-final of a Grand Slam event. Number 6 seed Marin Cilic, Croatia, will play unseeded Kyle Edmund, UK, in the other semi-final.
