Nawada: Road Construction Department (RCD) minister and senior BJP leader Nand
Kishore Yadav visited Nawada town on January 20, 2018, to inaugurate the commencement of repair work of 107 km of NH 31 between Rajauli and Bakhtiarpur which is likely to cost around Rs 50 crore. The RCD Minister informed that the repair work would be carried out
by three different agencies and completed by June-end this year. He attributed the delay to the Grand Alliance government.
The RCD Minister’s visit followed shortfall in revenue to the state exchequer due to the extremely pathetic condition of 36 km of NH 31 between Rajauli and Nawada. Besides the loss of revenue, the image of the BJP was so badly tarnished in the region that posters of a “missing” Giriraj Singh, union state minister and Nawada BJP MP, had sprung up on electric poles, buildings and trees last week in Rajauli town in Nawada district along with a
promise of Rs 11,000 cash award to the person locating him.
Such was the discontent of the citizens that the RCD minister, although accompanied by Giriraj Singh, BJP MLAs Anil Singh (Hisua), Aruna Devi (Warisaliganj), Nawada DM and a host of politicians and officials, deliberately avoided visiting Rajauli and instead laid the
foundation stone at Kendua, 2 km from Nawada town PS.
District Transport Officer, Nawada, Brajesh Kumar said that the district transport office (DTO) suffered 17 % downfall in its Rs 31 crore monthly revenue on this route as commercial vehicles going to Jharkhand and vice-versa via Nawada had opted to ply via Gaya. Even the Nawada DM Kaushal Kumar avoided travelling to Rajauli via the NH 31 due to the extremely dangerous condition of the NH and instead travelled via Nawada – Hisua -Narhat -Sirdalla –
