Nawada: Posters showing the photo of “missing” Union Minister of State (IC) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and BJP MP from Nawada Giriraj Singh and announcing a Rs 11,000 cash award to the person who provides any clue about his whereabouts appeared on January 10, 2018, morning under the twin blocks of Rajauli and Sirdalla blocks of Rajauli Sub-division of Nawada district. The posters have become a topic of discussion for the spectators.
The BJP MP’s public representative, Bittu Sharma, besides Ranjit Singh, the Rajauli block BJP president, suspect the hand of the RJD behind it aimed at tarnishing the image of the MP. Bittu Sharma went as far as seeing RJD supremo Lalu Yadav’s hand behind it.
It may be mentioned here that Rajauli and Sirdalla block have seldom been on Giriraj’s radar during his visit to the district. Both Rajauli and Sirdalla blocks have elected RJD’s Prakash Veer as their MLA while the adjoining Govindpur assembly is represented by Congress’s Purnima Yadav, wife of former JD (U) MLA Kaushal Yadav.
Giriraj’s frequent visits to the Nawada Lok Sabhaconstituency are confined to Warisaliganj, Hisua, Birbigha, all represented by upper-caste BJP MLAs, and Nawada town represented by RJD’s jailed MLA Raj Ballabh Yadav.
Meanwhile, resentment prevails among the 6 lakh plus residents falling under Rajauli, Sirdalla blocks and Govindpur assembly segments on account of the dilapidated condition of the 36 km stretch of NH 31 between Nawada and Rajauli. “ Several accidents and deaths caused due to the broken road notwithtanding, the BJP MP has done nothing except doling out empty assurances relating to immediate repair,” said Brahamdeo Prasad, a shop- keeper.
People, mainly students and traders are bitter that that the minister has not
used his clout to draw the attention of Union surface transport and shipping minister Nitin Gadkari to address the problem. The 45 minute journey from Nawada to Rajauli now takes not less than 2 to 2.5 hours and that too fraught with chances of breakdowns.
