Patna : Vidarbha beat seven time champion Delhi by 9 wickets in the Ranji Trophy final at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on day four on January 1, 2018, to win their first Ranji Trophy title. Resuming at their overnight score of 528/7, Vidarbha were all out for 547 on the fourth day of the play taking a 252 run lead. For Delhi Navdeep Saini took 5/135, Akas Sudan 2/102, Kulwant Khejrolia 2/132 and Nitish Rana 1/32.

Delhi, who had made 295 in their first innings, were all out for 280 in their second innings leaving Vidarbha to score only 29 runs to win the match. In Delhi’s second innings, Nitish Rana made 64 while Dhruv Shorey, who had made 145 in the first innings, was out for 62. Former Delhi Captain Gautam Gambhir made 36, Captain Rishav Pant 32 and Vikas Mishra 34. For Vidarbha, Rajnish Gurbani, who had taken 6/59 in Delhi’s first innings, took 2/92 while off spinner Akshay Wakhare took 4/95. Left arm spinner Aditya Sarvate took 3/30 while Siddesh Neral took 1/39.

Vidarbha made 32/1 in their second innings to become the proud winner the Ranji Trophy courtesy brilliant performance by their bowlers. Vidarbha wicketkeeper Akshay Vinod Wadkar made 133, his maiden first class ton, whie Wasim Jaffer made 78, Aditya Sarvate 79 and Siddesh Neral 74.
