Patna : The 4th Ashes Test ended in draw on December 30, 2017, at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Australia, with Australia Captain Steve Smith coming up with a match saving 102 not out in 275 balls hitting 6 fours, his 23rd century in 60 test and 8th against England. This was Smith’s third century in the five-match Ashes series.

Australia were 264/4 at stumps on the fifth and final day of the Boxing Day Test. Opener David Warner was out to England Captain Joe Root for 86 in 227 balls hitting 8 fours. Australian all rounder Mitchell Marsh remained not out on 29 while his brother Shaun Marsh was out for four to Stuard Broad.

Australia had resumed the day at their overnight score of 103/2 with Warner batting on 40 and Smith on 25. Australia had made 327 in their first innings. England made 491 in their first innings with former Captain Alastair making 244 not out.

The MCG pitch came in for criticism after the match as it failed to produce a result. It had no bounce or pace. The wicket remained flat and dead.
