Ara : Dozens of doctors and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) led by Dr B K Shukla on December 24, 2017, took out a procession from Ara Sadar Hospital that paraded through the main thoroughfares of the town and culminated at the gate of the Civil Surgeon. They took out procession in protest against alleged misconduct of Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar with Civil Surgeon Dr Ras Bihari Singh and also threatening to send him to jail on December 23.

The doctors of Ara Sadar Hospital have paralysed the functioning of the Out Patient Department (OPD) since December 23 and have resolved to continue their stir till the DM apologises for his alleged misconduct.

DM Sanjeev Kumar, however, refuted the allegation and said that he had not used any unparliamentary words against the Civil Surgeon. The DM said that he had only warned the CS for the absence of doctors at a mega health camp on December 23 at Jagdishpur. He said if doctors do not return to their duty and start OPD, stern action would be taken against them.

A mega camp was organized on the campus of Ram Swarth Sahu High School at Jagdishpur in Bhojpur district on December 23. The ALIMCO company had organized the mega camp where senior citizens and physically challenged persons were examined.

The DM had directed Civil Surgeon Dr Ras Bihari Singh to depute doctors to the camp. The CS complied with the order but an Orthopaedic Surgeon had reached the venue about an hour late. In the meantime, someone informed the DM that the Orthopaedic Surgeon had not come. The DM, without verifying the matter, allegedly used unparliamentary words and  also threatened to send the CS to jail. The doctors of the Ara Sadar Hospital took strong exception to the DM’s conduct and paralysed medicare services at Ara Sadar hospital.
