Patna : In a dramatic day of cricket, Sri Lanka were all out for 205 in 79.1 overs against India on the first day of first test at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, on November 24, 2017, with spinner R Ashwin taking 4/67 and R Jadeja taking  3/56. Inshant Sharma, who returned to test cricket as Mohd Shami was ruled out due to injury, took 3/37.

The performance of Ashwin and Jadeja was excellent as it was not that spin friendly wicket and both of them used variations to get their wickets. Ashwin playing his 54th test match has now taken 296 wickets in his test career. For Sri Lanka, Captain Dinesh Chandimal scored the highest 57 runs while opener Dimuth Karunaratne made 51 and N Dickwella 24.

Replying to Sri Lanka’s 205, India too made a disastrous start as opener Lokesh Rahul fell for only 7 to Gamage. At stumps, India were 11/1 in 8 overs with opener Murli Vijay and Cheteswar Puja were at the crease both scoring two runs each. In all, 11 wickets fell on the day.
