Situation tense at Piro in Bhojpur but under control

Ara : Tension still prevails in and around Piro under Piro Sub-Division in Bhojpur district forcing the district administration to enforce prohibitory order after two groups clashed during Muharram and went on rampage on October 1, 2017, evening. Several vehicles including that of Fire Brigade and shops were set ablaze or damaged about 100 meter away from Piro police station. At one stage, policemen including DSP Resshu Krishna had to flee and take shelter inside the Pitan Devi temple.

Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar and SP Awakash Kumar along with reinforcement rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The internet service was also snapped to maintain law and order.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said the situation is tense but under control. He denied police firing and said that 72 persons have been arrested and a named FIR has been lodged with Piro police station against 503 persons including 400 unknown persons. He further said that the disturbing elements were being identified through the video footage and legal action would be taken against them. BJP leader Madan Snehi blamed that the district administration and the range DIG for the situation.
